My hometown is just a small city. It’s a perfect place for relaxing, its air condition usually is not good though. However, at the same time, it looks like it’s not an ideal place for working and earning money. At least, until now I can’t find a job to utilize what I’ve learned in college.
Actually, what I want to do is to be a teacher, for I still have to continue my studies in Spain this October. I believe that this job can keep my ability of language, whatever which is English or Spanish. Nevertheless, it’s quite hard to be a language tutor in this small city, because… obviously it’s a small place and the residents here don’t have too much this kind of demand. The only kind of tutor those parents need is the one who can accompany their children to study and help them in the homework. In this case, I’ve checked those relevant ads and I found that for those parents they only need those college students who are studying in the local universities. Every time when I had a phone call with them, usually their first question was where I had my education career. Not here? Sorry. Not to mention if I want to be a Spanish tutor because, for the majority of the people here, they still believe that the language in Mexico is “Mexican”, and so on. They can’t imagine why their children go to learn Spanish, for it sounds absolutely useless for the college entrance examination (like Chinese-version SAT).
Alas… Looks like the only thing I can do is to submit my resume to the institutes, like language school for kids. However, for those places, the only one who is needed is the real teachers, in other words, the teachers with certification. Of course I’m not. And unfortunately, it’s impossible for me to get this certification recently for it’s put off the exam for the COVID-19. I’m now thinking if there still aren’t any reactions from these ads which I post on the internet, I’m going to find a job in a restaurant. I now really need money for the gym and food.
My experience these days recalls me about a guy who just graduates from college this year, just like me. This May he borrowed some money and then invested 3 lines for producing surgical masks and of course, he failed. To do such an investment at this time is too late because in May… come on everything was under control in mainland China! In this situation, he was like a madman that he kept begging me to join him to sell his products in Spain when he knew that I’m studying there. Even when I had told him that it was impossible, he still kept asking me if I could be in. What a poor man! He is absolutely in debt to the usurer.
What’s very interesting is that almost every old friend of my grandparents hears that I want to find a tutor job as soon as I’ve posted the ads on the internet. That’s one of the points why I dislike small cities like this.
