Dunno why but I actually can’t open the page for posting with the Wifi of my home so every time when here occurs to me an idea, I have to connect with my mobile data. It’s quite an inconvenience.
Somehow, I wanted to build some “Touhou-like” attractions in Minecraft, quickly I dropped it’s illusion though because undoubtedly it would be a tremendous workload, not to mention that I even didn’t have any idea about what exactly those magnificent structures look like. In this case, I searched on the internet to see if I could find some finished works for I could have an instant experience and, as a result, I found a great project which intends to recreate a Gensoukyo in Minecraft in China, whose name is “MC Gensoukyo (or MCG)”.
Maybe in other countries, there also are some similar projects but here what I’m going to talk about is the one in China. Undoubtedly it’s a spectacular project that I can really see those famous attractions in this MC server. And they are so realistic and vivid that I can get a lot of deja-vu when I hanging around inside. Besides, the creators now are trying to build a whole metro system to provide a more convenient travel experience (looks pretty like Shanghai Metro), although there are just a few parts finished and the metro stations usually are too far from the safety zone. Put the architectures aside, the creators also make this world alive with those iconic characters. For example, I can see Reimu Hakurei, Suika Ibuki, and Shion Yorigami in Hakurei Jinja, and I actually can interact with them – when I talk to Reimu, she will tell me about the Spell Card. Meanwhile, I can learn some skills from her if my level’s high enough and, of course, I can donate money to her. Don’t worry that there may be somebody who tries to ruin the landscapes, because the permissions of those normal users are strictly limited.
I can see that those creators intend to establish and implant an RPG system in this server. This a nice try for me because the attacking-monster, passing, upgrade mode can actually keep people playing. It’s a guarantee for the maintenance of the server and for the survival of this project. However, the content is too unfriendly for those new people. When I just joined in, I was a “visitor” and I have nothing permission but walking and flying. I kept starving, but I just can’t eat anything. I had no choice but to join in their RPG system, or it was impossible for me to even start a quick tour to visit those attractions. After I join the game, I lost the permission of flying, and then here comes a big problem: how can I find those key characters or those places when I complete the missions, especially the commissions in the bulletin board? In addition to the unfinished metro and the metro stations which sometimes are far away from the attractions, a navigation system is necessary for this game. I once tried to go to Eientei. I arrived Bamboo Forest of the Lost by metro and then I found that I had no idea where was the direction for Eientei when I walk out of the station, not to mention that there was a bunch of youkai who were waiting for me at the gateway and I got killed by the danmaku for 3 times. Fortunately, the line for Hakurei Jinja hasn’t been in operation so I can walk there along the road, or I’m afraid it’s hard for me to arrive at the station, which is in the very north of the Jinja.
Anyway, I love this project for it actually provides me an opportunity to know Gensoukyo. I’m now addicted to it and then I’m going to see if I can visit more attractions.
